Our last day in Copenhagen started early. We had a late flight out but there was still plenty of things to see. After checking out of our hotel, we had croissants for breakfast in the most adorable little alley.

Afterwards, we settled into a French inspired café called Beau Marché Café aux Vins. If you ever find yourself searching for it, it’s hidden in the backyard! We also found lots of colorful facades nearby, such as this blue one.

Given that my husband is a graphic designer, we simply had to visit a few design shops. We found a souvenir in one of them and the view from the other one was great!

Then we headed to Christianshavn where we climbed up the spire of the church of Our Saviour. I couldn’t recommend you enough to climb up here!

The external spiral staircase provides you with some amazing views. Normally, they close the tower during bad weather and I’m pretty sure we experienced the wind limit that day.

We didn’t stay up there for too long due to the strong wind but it was still fun. The crazy wind made climbing the spire an even more thrilling experience.

And then we boarded the boat bus. Yes, you read that right. Alongside many metro and bus lines, they also have two boat bus lines. It’s a great (and cheaper) alternative to a boat cruise. In fact, for us it was a free alternative since we purchased City Passes.

Even though we didn’t plan on it at first, the boat bus ended up bringing us close to the famous Little Mermaid. So we paid her a quick visit before coming back to the center.

I like how all the transport lines end outside of the city center so, in order to get somewhere, you have to walk on foot. Not that you can complain about it when you see the architecture around you.

Our next stop was the Round Tower, which was fun to climb up but even more fun after my husband found a hidden passage.

We actually passed by it without noticing the 1 meter high opening in the wall. The tower has a hollow core and you can hover 25 meters from the ground on a glass panel. It was, to say the least, interesting and I’m glad we didn’t miss it.

We spent our last few hours by walking around and enjoying the city that stole our hearts. Even though we were excited to go back home to our labrador, we were both a bit sad to leave Copenhagen.

For a hot chocolate and a great view, we went to Original Coffee Illum. The terrace was open but only for catching a glimpse of the city skyline.

On the whole, this birthday trip exceeded our already high expectations. So naturally, we vowed to come back for a summer visit soon. Until then, we’ll cherish the memories we made in cold, windy, beautiful Copenhagen!
