Every single year I somehow manage to forget how freezing and uncomfortable February is. The temperatures didn’t come close to zero so most of our activities this month were spent inside. Starting from the mesmerizing concert by Lord Huron that we attended in Antwerp on the first day of the month. There’s nothing better than seeing one of your favorite bands perform live, especially since they rarely come to Belgium! February started off on a good note, with a little traditional brunch that Saturday.

The following weekend, I braved the cold and visited my friend in Ghent for warm drinks at Billierose, a store and café that brought back memories of Copenhagen with its interior. And after stopping by the local secondhand bookstore, I came back home dragging eight new old books with me. Needless to say, my most common activity this month was reading books again. And then a few days later I saw His Girl Friday at the cinema. Honestly, I get more excited about screenings of classics such as this one than about new releases. Especially when they screen them in smaller rooms so it feels like I’m watching it in a private cinema! Also, one random Thursday evening we spontaneously went to the local cinema in nearby Stavelot to see Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, a movie I did not mind rewatching!

To chase the winter cold away, we booked a flight to Carcassonne in March and bought tickets for a festival in July. Nothing better to forget about the cold than planning exciting things for the upcoming warm months. And I truly can’t wait to see The National and Editors perform live! For the last weekend of February, we chose to visit a nearby WWII museum. In fact, this is one of three WWII museums that are only 25 min away from our home and they’re all interactive and informational.

Winter sure is taking its time this year which leaves me eager for March and those first signs of spring that are still far off. Right now I’m patient since organizing trips is keeping me busy. But I know I’ll jump at the first notion of spring blossoms! I suppose that leaves me with plenty of time to find all those blossoming trees and flowers. Fingers crossed for no more snowy photos next month!
