Boy, was I lazy during September when it comes to taking photos. I only realize that now as I begin to write these month’s stories. September is always a transitional month but I got so excited about autumn being here, even though it hadn’t arrived yet. So not feeling very inspired and feeling anxious, the first half of this month went by unphotographed. Except for the first weekend, when we visited the Planckendael zoo since they were having a LEGO exhibition. Needless to say, when I mentioned animals and LEGOs together, Grégory was immediately up for it! We were both impressed by some sculptures that contained 40,000 pieces or more!

Plus, there are so many adorable animals, like this cutie in the photo below whose name I can’t recall. He actually stayed there for five minutes posing for pictures I took of him, which was hilarious! The first weekend of September was a busy one so the following day we headed to Tongeren for their weekly antique market.

I am still impressed by the size of this market and the number of amazing pieces one can find there. The antique market spreads throughout five different streets, a parking lot, and a covered hall. We didn’t expect that so we felt a bit unprepared. Nevertheless, we checked out every nook of the market and even got ourselves a little souvenir. Since we both love industrial design, we found some old cricket balls and thought they would be a great addition. But I must admit, I wouldn’t mind coming back for bigger pieces because the styles are so varied you can find just about anything.

Later on in the month, we took a day trip to Brussels for a visit to the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences and a concert. That afternoon, I was a five-year-old running from one dinosaur to another. And I had no clue that Brussels has the third-biggest natural history collection in Europe! Naturally, that made the visit even better than expected. Unfortunately, I managed to forget my camera so all I have are photos from Grégory’s phone. And about the concert, it was by Novo Amor and it might just be my favorite concert ever. Even if I embarrassed myself after the concert when I met him in person and asked him to sign the record we just bought. Shy people meeting other shy people sounds awkward and it definitely was. Nonetheless, it was an unforgettable day!

And not long after that, autumn took over and everything we did was autumn-related. We went to a pumpkin fair and all I could say was that I had never seen so many pumpkins in my life! And tomorrow we’re going apple picking but I’ll do a separate post on those two things since I have lots of photos to share. All in all, September marked the beginning of my favorite time of the year. And I plan on taking full advantage of this beautiful season!
