Looking back on March, I realize it was filled with museum and flea market visits. First of all, we took advantage of free museum entrances on the first Sunday of the month and visited The Aquarium in Liège. Not all museums participate in this but plenty that interest us do, so we’re really excited about exploring more. The aquarium is a part of an old local university so it’s technically more than just an aquarium. Filled with lots of old exhibits of flora and fauna, it made for a compelling visit.

Before our trip to France, I managed to drop by the cinema for a screening of The Awful Truth. I’ve said it so many times and I’ll say it again – there’s nothing more I love than seeing black & white movies at the cinema. And then it was time to head to Carcassonne for a short but sweet visit. It was our escape to a warm, faraway place and you can read more about it here. Usually, after a holiday that includes flying, I’m not in the mood for much other than relaxing. So most of my days after the trip just included lots of book reading and puppy walks.

Back at home, we visited a few nearby flea markets and enjoyed rummaging through newspapers from 1922 and songbooks from the 19th century. I couldn’t believe I was holding something so old in my hands! Then on March 22nd, since it was World Water Day, we decided to clean up a river we often visit. 90 minutes later, we had with us three bags full of trash. And we only covered 500m of the river. It was cloudy and rainy and by the time we finished up, we were enveloped in fog. We decided to do this again, in another place, when the warmer days return. It felt good to actively do something good for the environment.

Before the month was over, we squeezed in another museum visit, this time to Fort Eben-Emael. Unassuming at first, we ended up exploring every room of the enormous underground WWII fort for almost four hours. Finally, at the end of this month, we decided to go on holiday to Athens this May! This will be my first time in Greece so I’m looking forward to all the ancient architecture and the abundance of sunshine!
