By writing these monthly stories, I am even more aware of how quickly time flies. October is already over and it feels way too soon. Autumn always seems like the shortest season of them all. It makes me miss those days when I was 10 and has no sense of time. The autumn and winter months always seemed to last forever back then, which made me so happy. And now, even if you’re consciously trying to make the best out of these autumnal months, you still feel like you miss out on certain things.

October Stories

It’s been quiet over here on the blog this month and the reason was that I wanted to enjoy autumn. I wrote more about it in detail here. I love stepping away from my online spaces and I usually do that over the weekends. However, skipping out on the blog still makes me feel guilty every now and then. I suppose it’s because I like to set myself weekly or bi-weekly subjects to write about but sometimes life gets in the way. So let me show you what distracted me!

We got to spend the first week of October together, celebrating our anniversary and it was just lovely. We would take Miles out for frisbee playtime in the park covered with autumn leaves. I sat there while nostalgia washed over me. It was like a replay of our autumn routine from two years ago when Miles was growing up and we would spend our days with him. I couldn’t have imagined a better week spent together.

The following week, we had a bout of Indian summer which was a bit confusing. But it meant we were outside every day so that was nice. The sun was inescapable that week and the trees were ablaze with orange and red leaves. It was a real sight to see!

One thing I always wish to do more of is get up for sunrise. The warmer weather lured us out one morning and we saw four deer running in the fog. It was a truly magical sight! We also heard one buck doing the mating call, which was exciting. However, it was also scary because he was right across from us! And the sunrise was magnificent, to say the least. I’m excited to see how the analog photos of it will turn out!

October Stories

We spent quite a few evenings this month aimlessly driving on roads next to the woods. Occasionally, we would get lucky and see some foxes and other smaller animals. One specific evening was equally exciting and scary because we found ourselves enveloped in the thickest layer of fog. It makes me happy to think more foggy days are coming next month!

As I write this, I can just feel October slipping through my fingers. The trees are blooming with colors but the pile of leaves underneath them is getting bigger and bigger. And while we still have nine days of autumn to enjoy together at the beginning of November, it will all fly by too quickly. I never mind the quick passage of time as much as during autumn. I’m squeezing in quite a few beautiful locations to visit before all the leaves disappear. Until then, enjoy these photos!
