Since I haven’t before, I present to you now the place I live in. Spa is a city situated in the Walloon part of Belgium. Outside of the city itself, with the forest only five minutes away is where our home happens to be.
Luckily, this January was a month of snow for us. I say luckily because considering how gloomy January is, snow makes it a bit easier to get through it. And I truly feel lucky to live in a place where it always snows in January, even if it doesn’t during Christmastime.
The first snow of the year happened on the second day of the year. I woke up at 4:30 due to an awful cold and slowly watched the snow fall outside. I wasn’t even that bothered with the cold because I was so happy over the falling snow!
Naturally, we spent lots of time outside in the forest where almost every path seemed covered with untouched snow.
The snow was around pretty much all month long, followed by fog and/or ice. Meanwhile, the last snowfall stayed on the ground for two weeks while the sun shone. It was a lovely combination of endless sunshine and snow.
The last bits of snow melted away just a few days before February came. And it doesn’t seem like it’s going to come back anytime soon.
But I’m not going to lie; as much as I liked a snowy January, I am eager for spring. Just the thought of it gets me inspired and motivated.
Let’s hope those trees and flowers start blooming soon. In the meantime, enjoy some snowy photos of our region.
