This must have been the oddest February we had here in Belgium! Not only is it longer due to the leap year but also, it didn’t really feel like the coldest month of the year. After weeks of rain, the month ended in a thick layer of snow. Just when I had completely given up on it, we had our first snowfall. Usually, during February, we get the 5th or 6th snowfall of the season so it was no wonder I gave up on the white landscapes. But before that, let’s get onto the first weekend of February, which was quite exciting! It included my favorite kind of photo shoot, a windy one, and baking some delicious chocolate brownies!

We drove up to Malchamps, my favorite place for photography during winter. I wore my Edwardian coat together with a 1930s outfit and my vintage riding boots. That combination made me feel one with the windy, desolate landscape. There was something about it that reminded me of Wuthering Heights so much! The mute colors, the harsh winds that shaped the photos into something unique. I always love how much the wind can influence the photo. If I could, I would always take photos on windy days because the results are incomparable!

One weekend, we drove around in search of snowdrops. While I saw them everywhere online, I still hadn’t spotted a single one around our home. Grégory came to my help and drove me to a spot where he noticed them by the side of the road. I could tell it was probably their last week of blooming but it was still nice to find such a big patch of them.

For the penultimate weekend of February, we hosted a cute little pup! His name was Pingo and he was quite adorable. And very photogenic too, as you can see from the photos! A few days later, another puppy from the neighborhood stayed over for one night. All in all, those five days were quite tiring, despite the lovely company!

And finally, the month ended with a swift snowfall, the only one we had during February. It lasted a few hours before everything started melting away. While it was nice to see the magical snowflakes again, I wasn’t too sad about the snow disappearing. I’ve had my heart set on spring for quite a while, eagerly awaiting the first buds. They’ll probably arrive at the end of next month but there is plenty to look forward to in the meantime. Slightly warmer temperatures and best of all, longer days. Hurry up, spring!
