Martin’s Hotels is a series of unique hotels scattered throughout Belgium. My first taste of them was during a romantic stay at Martin’s Relais in Bruges. Just a few weeks later, I spent a night at Martin’s Klooster, their hotel in Leuven. It’s a city I often revisit due to friends living there but this was my first time spending a night in a hotel there.

Most of the rooms at Martin’s Klooster have a modern interior. In fact, only one part of the hotel is inside a historical building whereas the other part is in a newer one. Naturally, I picked a beautiful room with tall ceilings and wooden beams. Add in a canopy bed and mullion windows and I am one happy girl.

There are 103 rooms at Martin’s Klooster. Some of them are situated inside the older building whereas most of them are in the newly-built part of the hotel. This means that the majority of the rooms have a modern setting and decor. The contemporary decor complements the old building’s past.

Staying at Martin’s Klooster

I spent the night inside the Charming Twin room. The cozy interior immediately won me over and I think it’s obvious to see why. The bedroom was snug and also had a lovely view of the garden. The late afternoon light pouring in through the tall windows was dreamy upon my arrival.

In the dining area, you will find a continental and American breakfast buffet with pretty much everything. I have genuinely never seen a more varied food selection for breakfast. Savory and sweet, there is something for everyone! We enjoyed a delicious breakfast feast of pastries and fruits. There are vegetarian options available and you can request gluten-free alternatives if needed.

The hotel has an elegant bar with a courtyard and terrace where you can have drinks. The interior with wooden beams looks beautiful and inviting. That evening, the terrace decked out in string lights looked especially enchanting. Indoors or outdoors, whiling away a few hours with cocktails is never a bad idea!

All in all, Martin’s Klooster is a great choice for a trip to Leuven. This 4-star hotel in a quiet neighborhood has everything you might need and is only 5 minutes away from the city center. It was my first time here during the summer and I loved how lively and eventful it felt. Long summer nights with open-air concerts and chats that lasted long into the night, the city pleasantly surprised me. All things considered, Martin’s Klooster is the ideal base for discovering the city of Leuven!
