May is slowly letting us know that summer is sneaking up on us. It was about time! I love the (mostly) mild summer we have here in Belgium.
Going back to the beginning, this month started off with a crazy 5 am sunrise walk with my friend. We both agreed that it’s worth losing a couple of hours of sleep over a beautiful sunrise.
On another note, I keep finding myself at the cinema a lot more often than I normally would this time of the year. I found screenings of random classics so I keep enjoying those in half empty screening rooms. This month it was Manhattan‘s turn, one of my favorite Woody Allen movies.
I was also planning on finally visiting Antwerp this month. I have no clue how I went almost three years without coming here because it’s lovely. So lovely I’m maybe considering revisiting it soon!
Only a few days after that we went to Germany to visit the hidden Eltz castle.
Here is a sneak peek because I’m working on a full blog post about this beautiful place.
The last week of May was sunny but often stifling, ending in summer showers in which we got caught in while walking around the lake.
But I still liked it. It reminded me of those sudden summer showers that I almost looked forward to as a kid.

At our home, we measure summer by the time around which we start going for sunset walks with Miles. And they’re pretty much happening every day now. It feels freeing to be able to get out of the house and enjoy nature every day.
May rushed past us so quickly, I find it hard to believe it’s June tomorrow. But then I remember, more puppy walks, sunset picnics, road trips and getting up for sunrises on a whim. Basically, happiness.
